How to Troubleshoot the Guitar Connection for Rock Band for Wii

"Rock Band" is a music and rhythm game for the Nintendo Wii gaming system. You can play different band instruments along with popular music tracks with up to four players at a time. The game comes with a guitar controller that needs to be synced to your Wii before the system will detect it, just like a regular Wii controller. If your guitar controller is not properly syncing, you may need to clear out the Wii's sync memory and attempt to connect the guitar controller again.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the small panel on the front of the Wii system and locate the red "Sync" button.

    • 2

Turn on your Wii and allow the start screen to appear.

    • 3

Press and hold the "Sync" button for 15 seconds to clear the Wii's sync memory.

    • 4

Open the battery panel on the guitar controller and replace the batteries with new ones.

    • 5

Turn on the guitar using the switch on the back of the controller.

    • 6

Plug the white USB hub that came with your "Rock Band" game into the Wii's USB slot.

    • 7

Press and hold the guitar icon button on the guitar controller until the blue light flashes.

    • 8

Press and hold the "Sync" button on the USB hub while simultaneously pressing the "Sync" button on the guitar. Release the buttons when one of the blue lights on the guitar controller lights up and remains solid. This means that the guitar is connected and should now properly work with your "Rock Band" game.
