How to Make Backups of Wii Disks

In 2006, Nintendo released the Wii game console, Nintendo's fifth entry into the home console market. For the first time ever on a Nintendo console, games came on a standard DVD disc, a format that has the benefit of a large storage capacity but also comes equipped with a fragile data writing surface. With most DVDs, a simple scratch can render the disc unreadable. Fortunately, with the proper hardware, users can make backups of their favorite Wii games in a few simple steps.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with internet access and one of the following DVD drives installed:
  • LG-8164b
  • LG-8163b
