How to Play the Bigs on the Wii

While baseball games on most major video game consoles are not as popular as other sports, there are still games out there for the sport. While most take the traditional aspects of the game and make a simple game, one of those games, called "The Bigs," takes some of the aspects of the game and exaggerates them enough to put a different spin on the game. "The Bigs" game on the Wii takes advantage of the motion controls of the system and makes you feel like you are really playing the game yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the remote and the nunchuk as the bat. Hold the remote in the air and the nunchunk just below it to simulate holding a real baseball bat. The game will mimic any pre-swing motions you make as well. Once you get a pitch to hit, swing both the remote and nunchuk like a real bat.

    • 2

Select a runner, then move the Wii Remote in a "drumming" motion, like you are pumping your arms while running, to cause the runner to move. If you want to slide into a base, you must point the Wii Remote downward and the runner will automatically slide.

    • 3

Throw the ball by pretending to throw the Wii Remote at the TV. The way you pitch is based on a number of different factors while using the Wii Remote. The speed of your pitch is based on how well you "throw" the Remote at the TV, and the pitch is based on how you move your wrist and the button that you select before the pitch. The different pitches are both in the manual and prompted on screen before you pitch.

Field the ball by using the Remote and the nunchuk. The moves that you can make by doing different things with the two controllers include diving, wall jumping, double plays and jumping catches. The details of these plays are found in the manual sold with the game.
