How to Use Gamma Channel for Wii

In the world of Wii Homebrew, you can find many fan-made applications, one of which is the Gamma Channel. With this channel installed on their Wii, you can run Wii and GameCube backups without the original disc, along with games from other regions. The usage of the Gamma Channel requires only DVD-Rs onto which the games have been burned, and the channel itself to be installed on a Homebrew-enabled Wii.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a Wii or GameCube game burned onto a DVD-R into your Wii's disc drive.

    • 2

Turn on your Wii. Press "A" on the Wii Remote to advance to the Wii Menu, then move the pointer over the Disc Channel in the top left corner and press the "A" button.

    • 3

Wait for the disc to load. When the Wii doesn't recognize the disc, click the "Wii Menu" option to return to the menu.

    • 4

Press the plus button to scroll one page to the right on the Wii Menu. There you will see your installed Gamma Channel. Press "A" on it, and select "Start" in the next menu.

    • 5

See several menu selections under the "Backup Launcher Gamma" heading. Press the "B" button on the Wii remote to load the rebooter instead of selecting the "Launch Game" option. A message will read "Rebooting With Hooks" while it loads.

    • 6

Press the minus button to return one page to the left from the Wii Menu screen to which you have been returned. Select and run the "Disc Channel" in the top left.

    • 7

Wait at least eight seconds for the disc to load. See the familiar title screen for either the Wii game or GameCube game you burned onto your DVD-R. Select the "Start" option to play your game.
