How to Play a Video on Wii

The Wii system allows its users to perform a variety of tasks, including play games and exercise. Another task your Wii can perform is playing video. Wii systems can play back motion JPEG, also called MJPEG, video, as long as they are converted into a format the Wii can recognize and play.

Computer with Internet connection
Video files
SD card

  Install a program into your computer that will convert your video files into those the Wii can play, such as Wii Video 9 (see Resources).

  Move the new file that contains the converted video onto an SD memory card. How you do this depends on the type of computer you have. The program will likely give you information on how to go about transferring the files based on your type of computer.

  Insert the SD card into the front of the Wii. Once the card is inserted, go to the "Photo Channel" option on the console and you will see the video appear.
