How to Put Games on a Wii Hard Drive

Nintendo's Wii console comes complete with a small hard drive to which players can download classic video games from consoles of the past. These games are updated frequently and come from several generations of Nintendo and Sega consoles. The games can also be saved directly to the Wii's internal hard drive.

Instructions

  1. Add Wii Points

      Click the "Wii Shop" channel on your Nintendo Wii Main Menu.

      Click "Start Shopping."

      Select "Add Wii Points" and choose "Buy Wii Points with a Credit Card."

      Choose how many Wii points you wish to purchase and enter your credit card information when prompted.

      Enter your billing information, confirm the total of your purchase and click "Yes" to buy your points.

    Download Games

      Select "Virtual Console" in the "Wii Shop" channel.

      Search for games in whatever way works best for you. You can choose to browse "Popular Titles" or "Newest Additions," or search by category or title.

      Select the game you wish to download and select "Download" on the "Details" screen.

      Click "OK" to confirm the game download, and on the following screen ensure that the points and memory totals look good.

      Click "Yes" to finalize the transaction and begin the download. Hit "OK" once the download completes. You can now play the game directly from your hard drive by selecting it on the main Wii menu.
