Insert a SD card into the SD card slot of an SD card reader. Insert the SD card reader into a USB port on a PC. Download a System downgrade program to the PC's desktop, for example, the "Downgrader" program (see the link in Resources). Double-click on the file once fully downloaded to decompress it to a folder on the desktop.
Right-click on the desktop. Select "New folder" from the pop-up menu. Name the folder "Apps." Drag the decompressed "downgrader" folder into the "Apps" folder. Drag the "Apps" folder onto the icon of the SD card that is on the desktop. Wait as a copy bar appears, fills in from right to left and then disappears.
Right-click on the icon of the SD card. Select "Eject" from the pop-up menu. Remove the SD card adapter from the PC. Remove the SD card from the SD card adapter.
Insert the SD card into the SD card slot on the Wii. Turn the Wii on. Click on the "Homebrew" channel that is on the Main menu screen. Click the "Start" button on the "Homebrew" channel screen.
Select the "Wad manager" program from the list of choices on the screen that appears. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote. Press the "A" button again. Navigate through the list of files that appear on the screen to the "IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad" file. Click on the file. Press the "+" button on the Wii remote. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote to restart the Wii when the confirmation screen appears to state that the installation has been completed.
Click on the "Homebrew" channel that is on the Main menu screen. Click the "Start" button on the "Homebrew" channel screen.
Select the "custom wm" program from the list of choices on the screen that appears. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote. Press the "A" button again. Navigate through the list of files that appear on the screen to the "cios_fix.wad" file. Click on the file. Press the "+" button on the Wii remote. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote to restart the Wii when the confirmation screen appears to state that the installation has been completed.
Click on the "Homebrew" channel that is on the Main menu screen. Click the "Start" button on the "Homebrew" channel screen.
Select the "ios downgrade" program from the list of choices on the screen that appears. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote. Follow the onscreen directions to install the program. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote to restart the Wii when the confirmation screen appears to state that the installation has been completed.
Click on the "Homebrew" channel that is on the Main menu screen. Click the "Start" button on the "Homebrew" channel screen. Select the "shop ios51" program from the list of choices on the screen that appears. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote. Select "Yes" from the screen when it appears. Follow the onscreen directions to install the program. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote to restart the Wii when the confirmation screen appears to state that the installation has been completed.
Click on the "Homebrew" channel that is on the Main menu screen. Click the "Start" button on the "Homebrew" channel screen. Select the "clos downgrader" program from the list of choices on the screen that appears. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote.
Select a lower version of the firmware that you are using from the screen that appears, for example, versions 1.2, in order to downgrade the Wii's system menu. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote.
Select the region code for your country---for example, region 1 for users in North America. Press the "A" button on the Wii remote. Follow the onscreen directions to install the program. Press the "Home" button on the Wii remote to restart the Wii when the confirmation screen appears to state that the installation has been completed.
