How to Repair a Broken Wii Sensor Bar

The Nintendo Wii game console uses a wireless joystick designed to react to a plastic sensor bar that translates its movements into commands for the Wii. A broken sensor bar renders the Wii unplayable and requires repair. Fixing the Wii's sensor bar is a straightforward task that does not require any electrical or mechanical skills, although you'll need a few household items. The repair will enable you to use the Wii's sensor bar once again, saving you the cost of buying a new one.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a sheet of newspaper on a table to protect the surface. Place the broken pieces of the sensor bar on the newspaper with the shiny side facing up. Arrange the two parts of the sensor bar side by side.

    • 2

Sand the left and right broken edges of the sensor bar for a half minute each. Wipe off the edges with a lint-free cloth.

    • 3

Apply bonding glue to the broken right edge of the left part of the sensor bar. Place the broken left edge of the right part of the sensor bar against the broken left edge. Hold the two pieces together for a minute so the bonding glue can take hold. Let the bonding glue set for four hours.

Place the repaired sensor bar back in its original position in front of or above the Wii with the shiny side facing out. Plug the connection plug of the cable attached to the sensor bar into the sensor bar connection on the Wii.
