How to Connect a Nintendo DS to a 2Wire Router

Use your Nintendo DS to connect with people from all around the world via Nintendo wi-fi connection. You can input your friends' Friends Code into certain games to play and chat with your friends online. Upgrading to a Nintendo DSi can gain access to even more features online, such as purchasing game downloads from DSiWare.

  Check to see if your 2Wire Router is installed correctly. Connect the 2Wire Router to your computer with the cables that came with the router. Turn on your computer. Place the installation disc into the CD drive of your computer. Follow the step-by-step instructions to install and register your router. Click "OK" to finish and close the installation.

  Go into the Nintendo DS's Setup Utility. Turn on your Nintendo DS and go to the "Menu" and use the wand stylus to select "Nintendo DS Setup Utility." Use the wand stylus to highlight "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings" and select a connection save file. Select "Manual Setup" and use the wand stylus to select "No" under "Auto-obtain IP Address." Follow the step-by-step instructions to enter the rest of the information and highlight "Save Settings."

  Test your Nintendo DS to make sure that it is correctly connected to your 2Wire Router. Insert the game into the Nintendo DS that you wish to play online or connect to DSiWare. Give your Friend Code to people with whom you wish to play online. Receive their Friend Codes and input them into your game. Purchase Nintendo Point Cards to buy items online for your DSi.
