Where Is the Wii Ethernet Connection?

Unlike most computers and game consoles, the Nintendo Wii does not use an ethernet port for a wired Internet connection. Instead, players must purchase a LAN adapter for this purpose.

    • The LAN adapter is a small device with a male and female connector. The male connector inserts into the appropriate port on the back of the Wii console and the female port accepts an ethernet cable connected to a router.

    Function

    • The LAN adapter bridges the router and the Wii console so players can use a wired connection to connect to the Internet. This will allow players to compete against peers online and download new games via the Virtual Console and WiiWare channels.
