Identification
The LAN adapter is a small device with a male and female connector. The male connector inserts into the appropriate port on the back of the Wii console and the female port accepts an ethernet cable connected to a router.
Function
The LAN adapter bridges the router and the Wii console so players can use a wired connection to connect to the Internet. This will allow players to compete against peers online and download new games via the Virtual Console and WiiWare channels.
Location
LAN adapters can be purchased at major retailers and also directly from Nintendo. Visit nintendo.com or call customer service at 800-255-3700.
