How do I Connect a Wii Controller for Game Play?

The popularity of the Nintendo Wii is due in large part to the innovative motion controls that young and old players alike enjoy. Players can use the Wii remote to bowl, swing a sword, throw a ball and perform many other actions while playing games for the Wii console. Setting up the Wii controllers for game play is a snap. Up to four can be used at one time on the console.

Instructions

      Remove the battery cover from the back of the remote and insert two AA batteries, following the diagram inside the remote to put the plus and minus ends in the right connectors.

      Turn on the Wii console by pressing the power button.

      Press the red synchronization button inside the battery compartment of the Wii remote. The player LED on the front of the controller will blink.

      Open the cover for the SD memory card slot on the front of the Nintendo Wii and press the red synchronization button located here. The player LED on the Wii remote should stop blinking and settle on a number. If this is the first controller synced the "1" light will remain lit to indicate this is the first-player controller.

      Put the cover back on the Wii remote. Place your hand in the wrist strap and hold the remote. Tighten the strap so that it is snug against your wrist.

      Repeat the first five steps to connect more Wii remotes for game play.
