How to Back Up Wii Games to the Computer

Nothing is more frustrating than losing your save data on your favorite Wii video game. An SD card malfunction, an electrical surge and siblings are all hazards to your favorite saved game data.



Just like your computer can crash and you may lose your data, you may lose or corrupt the data on your SD card. The only way to prevent losing your game data is to back it up on a computer. This doesn't take long and can save you hours of playing time.

      Save your Wii game data to an SD (Secure Digital) card. These cards can

      be bought at any electronic store and are fairly inexpensive. Move your Wii data to the card by locating your save game data and selecting the "Copy" command.

      Remove your SD card from your Wii. Insert it into a suitable slot on your computer. If you don't have an SD slot on your computer, you will need to buy an SD card reader. These are inexpensive and plug in via USB. Your computer will automatically detect the SD card.

      Click on the SD card prompt to open and view the files. If your computer doesn't automatically identify the SD card, go to "Computer" or "My Computer" and find your SD card. Double-click on the corresponding icon to open the file.

      Right-click on the desktop. Select "New" and then select "Folder."

      Left-click to select the game save files and drag the files into the new folder.
