Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a cell phone or laptop with either the capability for Internet tethering or mobile hot-spot connectivity. These are often add-on options that can be included in your monthly service for a fee each month.

    • 2

Set the cell phone or laptop to either mobile hotspot mode or Internet tethering mode by going into the settings menu or the individual applications which run these programs. Check to make sure that the system is working, that the signal is strong, and then position the phone in an area near the Wii game system, plugging the phone to the Wii using a USB cable, if connection is necessary for the Internet tethering.

    • 3

Power on the Wii system and ensure that it is in a favorable location near the Internet device and is not surrounded by metal or another material that might affect the strength of the signal.

    • 4

Enter the "Wii Options" menu from the main Wii screen, and then select "Wii Settings." Open the "Connection Settings" menu and select "Connection 1." Click on the tab which says "Search for Access Point." If the Wii finds the connection, you may be required to input the security code for the wireless network, which you should be able to find in your device's security settings.
