How to Transfer WiiWare to a SD Card

As of July 2010, there are nearly 300 WiiWare titles available to download from the Wii Shop Channel. Preserve the internal memory on your Wii by transferring WiiWare games from the console's hard drive to a Secure Digital (SD) card. Using a SD card, you can save space on the Wii's internal memory for Wii channels, games and other media.

Instructions

  Insert the SD card into the SD card slot on the front of the Wii.

  Turn on the console. It will boot to the Wii Menu.

  Select the "Wii" icon in the bottom-left corner. Select by pressing the "A" button on your Wii remote.

  Select the "Data Management" option in the screen that appears.

  Click the "Channels" button. A new screen will open displaying all of the games currently on your Wii console.

  Select the WiiWare channel you want to transfer. Click the "Copy" button. Select "Yes" in the confirmation prompt to copy the WiiWare to your SD card.
