How to Run VC Games From a SD Card

Nintendo's innovative online Virtual Console service allows users to download classic Nintendo titles to play on their Wiis. You can choose to save your VC games on the Wii console's internal memory, or to an SD card. Access and run VC games from an SD card just as you would regular games on your Wii console--by using the Wii Channels on the Wii Menu.

  Insert the SD card into the Wii SD card slot, then turn on the console. The Wii will load to the main menu.

  Select the "SD Card Menu" icon at the bottom-left of the screen, next to the circular "Wii" icon. Complete this action by pressing the "A" button on your Wiimote.

  Locate the VC game you want to run. Scroll to the next page of the SD Card Menu by clicking the blue arrow on the right side of the screen. Return to the previous page by clicking the blue arrow on the left side of the screen.

  Click on the VC game you want to play by hovering over it with your Wiimote, then press the "A" button. This action will load the Start menu for your VC game. Click the "Start" button on the Start menu to run the game.
