Troubleshooting a Wii Blockhead Cordless Controller

The Blockhead Cordless Controller is designed for people who want a more classic controller for games downloaded from Wii Arcade. Based somewhat on the design of a GameCube controller, the Blockhead syncs to a small receiver inserted into the Wii instead of requiring a hardwire connection. If you're experiencing issues with your controller, there are a few troubleshooting steps that might correct them.

Instructions

    • 1

Replace the controller's batteries. Weak or drained batteries can cause intermittent connection issues or a lack of controller response.

    • 2

Turn off the controller. This switch is on the bottom of the controller under the yellow "C" stick. Count to five, then turn the controller back on. The controller might have gone into "sleep" mode; this reset will restart it.

    • 3

Turn off the controller and remove the Blockhead receiver from the Wii console. Count to five, plug the receiver back in, and turn the controller on. This should reset your connection.

    • 4

Check that the receiver is firmly plugged in to one of the console's controller ports. These ports are found under a flip panel above the system's power button.

    • 5

Force a manual connection. With the controller and system on, press and release the "Connect" button on the receiver and quickly press the "Connect" button on the controller. This button is on the back of the controller under the "on/off" slider.

Make sure there is nothing blocking the signal between the controller and receiver. Furniture and other objects may cause issues with wireless connections.
