How to Insert the USB Gecko Adapter Into Memory Card Slot A of the Wii

The USB Gecko Adapter for Nintendo Wii allows players to transfer data between their Wii and PC, allowing management of save-games and Virtual Console downloads through your computer. The device can also be used to play custom-made software on your computer. As the adapter fits into the GameCube memory card slot of the Wii, it also works with GameCube. However, the memory card slot itself can be hard to find if you haven't used it before.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the Wii toward you so you are looking into the DVD slot. If you are operating your console from the flat position, make sure the "Power" and "Reset" buttons are facing upward.

    • 2

Open the rear door on the top edge of the console, or the far left edge if the console is in the flat position. This door conceals the GameCube memory card slots.

    • 3

Insert the USB Gecko Adapter into the slot closest to the hinge of the door. This is Memory Card Slot A, and is the port the adapter uses to interface with the Wii's memory.
