How to Connect a PS2 & Wii to a TV

Both the Wii and Playstation 2 are excellent gaming platforms offering a variety of games to play for all levels of experience. If you are a serious gamer, hook both gaming systems up to the same TV rather than switching rooms to play a different game. A TV with multiple input/output components makes it easy to switch from one gaming system to the next; just power down one and start up the other. Even if your TV only has one set of component slots, it's just a simple switching of cords to continue your game play.

Instructions

Attach the associated component cords to the back of the Wii and the back of the PS2. On the Wii, the three component cords merge into one cord with a rectangle on the end. Match this to the same-shaped slot on the back of the Wii. On the PS2, the three component cords merge into one cord with a rectangle with rounded corners on the end. Match this to the same-shaped slot on the back of the PS2.

Plug the sensor bar into the back of the Wii and place it by the TV. It's really a matter of opinion of where the best location is for the sensor bar. Try different locations like on top of the TV, on the stand in front of the TV or on the shelf above the TV. Wave the Wii remote to test the sensor and place it wherever you get the best result.

Plug the power cord into the back of the Wii. This plugs into the the bottom slot in the back of the Wii, which is also called the DC input connector. Plug the power cord into the circular hole in the back of the PS2. Plug the pronged ends of the power cords to both gaming systems into a power outlet. Your TV should be plugged in as well.

Plug the component cords from the Wii and the PS2 into the component ports on your TV. The ports are located either on the back, front or side of the TV, and are red, yellow and white. The yellow component is for video or image, the white component is for the left audio or speaker, and the red component is for the right audio or speaker. If you have more than one row of ports, you can have both systems plugged in at the same time but you cannot play both systems on the same TV at the same time.

Turn on the TV. Press the power button on either the Wii or PS2 gaming system. Change the channel on your TV until you see either the Wii "Press A to start" or the PS2 swirling, sparkling lights on the TV screen.
