How to Burn a Wii Disc

The Nintendo Wii is part of the seventh-generation system release in 2006-07, which included the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360. With the rising costs of video games each generation, it becomes more economical every five years to back up the games to another disk. After purchasing the game, it is legal to back up the game as long as you don't sell or distribute it afterward.

Things You'll Need

  • Disk burning software (see Resources)
  • Wii Unlock "Hack" (see Resources 2)
  • Blank DVD-R
  • Wii disk-compatible CD drive

Instructions

    • 1

Install your burning software and Wii unlocker onto your computer if you have not done so already; most software uses an installation wizard that guides you through the process.

    • 2

Open your burning software and insert your Wii disk into a disk drive. Most drives made since the late 1990s have a smaller tray within the CD drive that looks like an indentation for smaller disks such as the Wii disk.

    • 3

Click "Copy" on your burning software to tell the program to download the disk content onto your hard drive.

    • 4

Put a DVD-R or other drive-compatible disk into your disk drive and click "burn" to copy the files.
