How to Connect Your Wii to the Internet With a 2Wire Router

2Wire is a wireless adapter company whose routers are sold through broadband DSL and cable Internet providers. If you have a 2Wire router in your home to give you wireless access to the Internet, you can connect nearly every wireless device in your home to it. However, in order to connect your Wii to a 2Wire router, you need to change the router settings.

  Open your computer's browser and type "http://gateway.2wire.net" or "http://192.168.1.254" into the address bar.

  Click on "Home Network" and select "Edit Settings."

  Select "WEP-Shared" from the Wireless Network Security field and click "Save."

  Turn on your Wii and click on the "Wii" button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

  Click on "Wii Settings" and select "Internet."

  Click "Connection Settings" and select "Connection 1."

  Click "Wireless Connection" and then select "Search for Access Point." Select your 2Wire router from the list of access points and click "OK."
