Wii Water Sports
The Wii Water Sports game, released in early 2010, has a number of popular water sports as part of the game, including kite surfing. You can test your skills as a kite surfer on waterways around the world. When combined with the Wii balance board, this game offers a true challenge for any fan if the sport. Zip your way across the oceans around Australia, California, or South Africa as you catch the wind for the ride of your life. Choose from three skill levels. Beginners should definitely start with the easy level, but as you develop your skills, don’t be afraid to try the tougher levels. This game is rated “E” for everyone and costs about $20 (as of July, 2010) in larger stores or online.
KiteSim 1.0
Learn to use a traction kite, one of the more common types, by practicing with this realistic kite surfing simulator. Activate many of the features that you’ll find when you use the real thing. Control your speed with the “chicken loop,” use the mouse to move the control bar and steer the kite, and practice with simulated problems like crossed or dropped lines. You can also adjust the line length and practice your launching techniques. The game also lets you control things you can’t control outside of the computer, such as wind direction and speed, scenery, and how much or how little the wind gusts. Street Kite Surfing
Kite surf the city streets in this unusual twist on the popular water sport. Grab logos and shoes to gain speed and catch some air so you can perform wild tricks above the roadway. Get extra points for double tricks and extra-high leaps. Combo tricks are worth even more. You have to be careful, though, because even though you’re in the city, you have to avoid boats and sharks. The arrow keys control the action, and the space bar lets you jump. Kids 10 and up will enjoy this free online game. Check it out at the link below.
