How to Put a WiFi Finder on a Wii

Game consoles, such as the Nintendo Wii, are capable of connecting to the Internet. If the console is used at an area outside the home it can connect to the Internet via a WiFi connection. This particular console has a built in WiFi finder or you can use an external adapter with your computer. You can find and connect to a WiFi connection with the Wii by configuring the Internet settings on the console.

  1. Enable WiFi Connection

      Turn on the Wii and then wait for the console to load to the main menu.

      Move the cursor with the remote over the Wii button that is in the lower left corner of the screen. Press the button on the remote to click the button. Click on the “Wii Setting” option, which is the image of the wrench.

      Click the icon of the arrow that is on the right side of the screen. This will display more options. Select the “Internet” button and the select the “Connections Settings” button.

      Click one of the available connection buttons. Any button that says none next to the connection number is available. Click the “Wireless Connection” button on the next screen and then select the option for “Search for an Access Point.” Wait while the system scans for an available wireless network.

      Click the “OK” button when the “Choose the access point you want to connect to” appears. Select the WiFi connection that you want to use with the console. Enter the password for the WiFi conection if one is required.

      Click the “OK” button to save the settings. Test the WiFi connection on the next screen by clicking the “OK” button.

    Using USB Connector

      Insert the installation CD for the Nintendo WiFi USB connector into the CD/DVD drive and wait for the Installation Wizard to appear. Click on the “Next” button and then go through each screen.

      Insert the Nintendo WiFi USB connector into a USB port on the computer when prompted. Click the “OK” button to complete the installation.

      Double-click the blue icon that is in the lower right corner on the Windows Status bar. This will display the Nintendo WiFi USB Connector Registration Tool.

      Go into the Wii and select a new connection button and then select the “Nintendo USB Connector” button. Click the “Next” button and the Wii will begin searching for the connector.

      Go back to your computer and you will now see your Wii appear on the Registration Tool. Right-click on the Wii and select the “Grant permission to connect” option. Click the “OK” button on the Wii to complete the setup.
