How to Fix Scratched Wii Games Without Buying Anything

If a Nintendo Wii game disc has a scratch on it, it may not play correctly. If the scratch is causing problems with game play, instead of discarding the game, try to repair it with elements you might have around the house. Home remedy success depends on the severity and location of the scratch.

Instructions

  1. Metal polish

    • 1

Apply a pea-sized drop to the washcloth.

    • 2

Rub the metal polish into the scratch on the Wii game. Use downward motions.

    • 3

Wipe the metal polish off the game with a clean cloth.

    Toothpaste

    • 4

Apply a small dab of toothpaste to the side of the Wii game, according to makeuseof.com, and use your finger or a rag to spread the toothpaste over the scratch, moving from the center to the edges of the disc.

    • 5

Let the disc sit for 20 to 30 minutes with the toothpaste on it.

    • 6

Rinse the toothpaste off the disc with cold running water. Use your finger to swipe off any toothpaste that sticks to the game–use a downward motion, starting from the center.

    • 7

Dry the game off with a soft towel.

    Peanut butter

    • 8

Apply a thick layer of creamy peanut butter to the disc.

    • 9

Wipe the peanut butter off the disc with a tissue using downward motions.

    • 10

Pour one drop of dish soap onto the disc. Wet it with water. Gently wash the remaining peanut butter off the disc.

    • 11

      Dry with a soft cloth.
