How to Set Up the Wi-Fi Connection on a Wii

With an Internet connection and your Nintendo Wii, you can use the Wii channels, play games online, download games from Wii Ware and browse the Web. The easiest way to connect your Wii to the Internet is via Wi-Fi. It only takes a few moments before you are able to enjoy the many online features of the Wii.

Instructions

    • 1

Verify you have a working wireless Internet. You can view your connection on a computer. If you have a secure network, write down the SSID (name of the network) and WPA/WEP key (network passkey.)

    • 2

      Turn on your Wii system.

    • 3

Select the "Wii Options" button on the Home screen.

    • 4

      Click "Wii Settings."

    • 5

Click the right arrow on the settings screen and click "Internet."

    • 6

      Select "Connection Settings."

    • 7

Choose a connection that you want to set up. You have three slots to choose from to save three different Internet settings. It does not matter which you choose if this is the first time you are setting up the Wii Internet. If you have other previous Internet connections set up, choose one of the slots not in use.

    • 8

      Click "Wireless Connection."

    • 9

Select "Search for an Access Point."

    • 10

Wait for the Wii to find in-range networks and choose your network from the list.

    • 11

Enter your passkey when prompted if you are using a secure network. If the network is not secured, you will be connected immediately.

    • 12

Click "OK" to save the settings.
