Enter the training room to learn the ropes. Opt to enter the training room before participating in an actual match, by choosing the training room on the Wii Boxing menu.
Stay calm and collected. Furiously punching the Wii Remote and Nunchuk does not result in faster punches. A punch is only thrown so fast, and it must land before another one registers to throw.
Move the Wii Remote and Nunchuk--not your body. Moving your body to dodge a punch won't do anything, as it's the Wii Remote and Nunchuk that have to move. Move them side to side or down to dodge.
Play defensively. Hold the Wii Remote and Nunchuk vertical to your face to block high, or hold them lower and inward to block low. Blocking is an important aspect of boxing, as is dodging. Block or dodge your opponent's punch, and then counter with a punch of your own--while your opponent leaves himself open.
Mix in combos when fighting your opponent. Combos, such as a right jab, left jab, and right uppercut, work in two ways: continuous hits have the ability to stun your opponent for a period of time, and they also drive your opponent backwards.
Throw in big hits. Big hits, such as uppercuts and haymakers, take out a larger portion of your opponent's health bar. Use uppercuts by flicking the Wii Remote or Nunchuk upwards. Use haymakers by quickly pushing the Wii Remote or Nunchuk to the side.
