How to Synchronize a Wii Remote Controller

The Wii's remote control, sometimes called the "Wii-mote," is a hand-held, wireless transmitter. Like other wireless controllers, such as those found with the PS3 and XBox 360, the Wii's controller requires syncing with the system prior to use. The controllers come from the factory pre-synchronized, according to Nintendo; however, you can resynchronize them at any time should they lose their synchronization.

Turn the Wii console on. Slide off the battery cover on the back of the Wii remote control.

Insert two AA batteries into the controller if you have not done so already. Leave the battery cover off for synchronization. The synchronization button is directly beneath the batteries.

Open the card slot on the Wii's front panel by pressing the release button. You'll find the system's synchronization button inside the compartment.

Press the synchronization button on the system, and then press the synchronization button on the Wii remote control. Watch the blinking light on the system. When it stops, the Wii remote is synchronized. Repeat the procedure to program additional controllers to the system.
