How to Convert a Wii ISO

The ISO (International Organization for Standardization) file format is the preferred way to make a copy of an optical disc. You can convert a backup of a Wii game disc saved as an ISO file into a playable copy for the game console using an ISO disc program. There are a number of ISO disc programs for both Macs and PCs, many of which are available at no cost and all of which operate in a fashion similar to each other. The ISO file, once burned onto an optical disc, can be played on any Wii, provided that its operating system has been modified to accept backup games.

Instructions

    • 1

Download an ISO disc copy program to the computer's desktop--for example, the free UltraISO program or the trial version of the Power ISO program (see Resource section). Double-click on the file once it has downloaded. Follow the command menus to install the ISO disc copy program onto the computer's hard drive. Restart a PC afterward.

    • 2

Double-click on the ISO disc copy program to launch it. Drag the ISO file onto the icon of the ISO disc copy program--the icon is on the desktop or in the Dock to the left or at the bottom of the screen.

    • 3

Wait for the name of the ISO file to appear in the "Name" column of the ISO disc copy program's main screen.

    • 4

Select the DVD drive from the list of choices presented in the "Drive" or "Devices" drop-down menu on the ISO disc copy program's main screen.

    • 5

Select "Data" from the "Format" drop-down menu on the ISO disc copy program's main screen.

    • 6

Eject the DVD drive's disc tray. Put a blank recordable DVD onto the disc tray. Close the disc tray.

    • 7

Click on the "Start" or "Burn" button on the ISO disc copy program's main screen.

    • 8

Wait as the ISO disc copy program converts the Wii ISO file into a format that the video game console can recognize and burns it to the blank recordable DVD.

    • 9

Quit the ISO disc copy program when the program says it has completed the burn. Eject the disc tray. Remove the DVD. Close the disc tray. Archive or delete the Wii ISO file.
