How to Back Up Wii Games With Wi-Fi

The Nintendo Wii marked a breakthrough in home video game consoles with its state-of-the-art motion controller. Wii games can be backed up using a program called "DVD Dumper" and a new feature allows you to back the disk up over your wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi). This will allow you to keep a second copy of your Wii games in case they become scratched.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your Nintendo Wii and remove any game that may be in the console.

    • 2

Connect your Wii to your home network connection. This can be done with either Wi-Fi or an ethernet cable.

    • 3

Open your Wii homebrew channel from your Wii dashboard and select "DVD Dumper" from the program menu that appears.

    • 4

Press the "Right" button on your "Wiimote" (Wii controller) until it displays "WiFi Connection." Press "A" to advance.

    • 5

Choose "Wii" from the type of disk you are going to back up. Press "A" and insert your Wii game into the Wii optical drive. The program will begin to read the disk. Press the "A" button again to display a network address.

    • 6

Open up a web browser on your computer and enter in the network address that is displayed on the Wii. The DVD Dumper menu will appear on your computer. Click "Download your ISO" and your Wii game will be backed up to your computer with your Wi-Fi connection.
