How to Backup & Burn Wii Games

The Nintendo Wii has sold millions of copies worldwide. Along with its impressive sales numbers, video games for the console have sold millions more. Because these games are often expensive, it is wise to back up your retail copies, and even burn them in case your game discs get scratched or lost.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert your retail game disc into your computer's DVD drive (you must have a DVD drive, not just a CD drive). In order to back up your Wii game, first you need to save a copy of it to your computer hard drive.

    • 2

Open your software backup tool of choice to initiate the game-copying process. You can find such applications on the Internet free of charge (see Resources).

    • 3

Point the backup tool to the disc source files. To initiate the backup process, click on the "Open" or "Browse" button within the application's main menu, or simply instruct the program to read the disc inserted by pointing out the proper drive letter assigned by your computer. Once the disc is in place, select the appropriate backup or copy option from the application to rip its contents.

    • 4

To burn the backup copy of your Wii game, simply replace the retail game disc with a blank DVD in the DVD drive of your computer. Typically, a backup application can also burn data to discs, although rarely you may find one that is only useful for backup purposes.

    • 5

Point the application to the extracted data. Launch your burning application of choice (see Resources) and select the data you backed up from the Wii game. Typically, you will find it by selecting the "Open" or "Browse" option within the program. Once the files are selected, set the speed at which you wish to burn them, and proceed to complete the process. Once finished, you may store the disc in a safe place for future reference.
