Purchase an item of Nintendo Wii software or hardware bundled with a download ticket. As of April 2010, the only such item is the "Wii Speak" microphone.
Open the packaging to find the download ticket with your item's manuals and warranty information.
Call Nintendo if you did not receive a download ticket. If you purchased a second-hand or improperly-packaged item, your download ticket may be missing or invalid. Call Nintendo's help line, at 1-800-255-3700, for help with this issue.
Redeem your download ticket by opening the "Wii Shop" channel and selecting "Settings and Features." Selecting the "Download Ticket" item of the menu will allow you to input the 16-character code from your ticket or phone call. After inputting the code, select "Now" to redeem your download ticket.
