How to Get Wii Points for Guitar Hero

Now that the internet is standard on most consoles, many video game companies are cashing in on the opportunity to add new, downloadable content (DLC) to their games, such as new songs on Guitar Hero. To purchase anything, be it a game, a channel or even music for Guitar Hero, you are going to need some Wii Points, the currency used in the Wii Shop Channel. One hundred Wii Points cost $1, and there are two different ways to buy Wii Points: either at a store or through Nintendo's Wii Shop itself.

Instructions

Purchasing Through Wii Shop Channel

  Start the Wii and open the Wii Shop Channel from your home screen.

  Click the "Start Shopping" button to bring up the main Wii Shop Channel menu.

  Click the "Add Wii Points" button and choose "Purchase with Credit Card."

  Select the number of Wii Points you wish to purchase, then your credit card type.

  Follow the on-screen prompts to input your credit card information, billing zip code and expiration date. When ready, click "OK."

  Click "Yes" to confirm that you wish to purchase these points. Note that the "Yes" button switches sides on the final screen, which can be confusing.
Redeeming Wii Points Cards

  Open the Wii Shop Channel on your Wii console.

  Click the "Start Shopping" button, then select "Add Wii Points" and click "Redeem Wii Points Card."

  Scratch to reveal the activation code on the back of the Wii Points Card with a coin or your fingernail. Input this code in the activation code field on the Wii.

  Click the "Redeem" button.
Purchasing Songs

  Insert your Guitar Hero game disc and begin the game.

  Access the Music Store within the game to peruse the music selection. You can access this menu from the Main Menu or the Downloads menu.

  Scroll through the list until you find a song or song pack you want to buy. Individual songs are worth 200 points, and track packs (three songs) are worth 550 points.

  Click the "Download" button to save the song to your console. You can play this song from your Downloads menu.
