Techniques for Wii Sports Boxing

The Nintendo Wii console was released in 2006. Sporting a Wii Remote and Nunchuk extension, the console was also packaged with the game Wii Sports. Wii Sports features five different sports for gamers to enjoy, including golf, bowling, tennis, baseball and boxing. Boxing, the only game that requires the use of the Nunchuk, may be considered the trickiest of all the sports in the game. However, there are strategies that may help in the process.
  1. Blocking

    • Blocking may seem tricky when first attempting to box in Wii Sports. You can expect attacks to come at your face and torso in the game. Moving your body may be your first instinct, but you have more than one option. Move the Wii Remote itself in front of your face to block those shots to the top. By keeping it up there, you also have the option for a quick jab between blocking. As well, move the Wii Remote to your stomach to block lower shots, which also readies your gloves for a returning shot.

    Upper Cut

    • If you have played other games in the Wii Sports game, you may already have an upper hand in facing your Mii adversary. In bowling, you use a low, scooping motion to deliver the ball down to the pins. Use that same motion with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk to deliver a swift upper cut to your opponent. Remember to aim your remote toward the middle in order to not miss the other boxer's face.

    The Follow-Up

    • One of the most beneficial tips in Wii Boxing is to always have another punch ready. As soon as one connects, you should have the other hand on the way to follow up. The more you connect, the easier it will be to quickly take down your opponent. It's a good idea to always have the other hand recoiled back in your mid-section to avoid oncoming attacks, as well.
