Remove all of the cables attached to the Wii. Remove any memory cards that might be in the memory card slot inside of the access panels on the side of the Wii.
Place a beach towel down on a table. Put the Wii face down on the beach towel horizontally with the front of the console facing you.
Scratch off the warranty stickers using the tip of the Torx screwdriver. Remove the screws that are now revealed from under the warranty stickers using the Torx screwdriver.
Rotate the Wii so that the exhaust fan grill is facing you. Pull off the rubber foot at the edge using your fingers. Remove the screw now revealed from under the rubber foot using the Torx screwdriver.
Rotate the Wii so that the access doors are facing you. Pull down on the access doors. Wiggle the access doors to remove them from their hinges.
Remove the screw from inside of the access door that is closest to the DVD slot with the Torx screwdriver.
Wiggle both sides of the DVD slot with your fingers and slide off the DVD slot cover. Carefully pull out the plug from the wire attached to the DVD slot cover with your fingers.
Pull out the DVD slot LED gate plate that is now revealed from off of the Wii using your fingers.
Put the differently colored DVD slot LED gate plate in position where the original DVD slot LED gate plate was.
Reattach the plug to the DVD slot cover. Slide the DVD slot back onto the Wii. Reassemble the Wii. Reattach the cables. Reinsert the memory card.
