Hot Wheels Games for the Wii

Hot Wheels toy cars have been a staple of toy Americana since 1968, when the first set of cars--which included a Corvette, Firebird, Mustang and Volkswagen, among others--was introduced by Elliot Handler and his company, Mattel. With the advent of video games, it was only natural that these highly popular small-scale cars would make a digital transition, including versions for the Nintendo Wii.
  1. "Hot Wheels: Beat That!"

    • Activision released "Hot Wheels: Beat That!" in September 2007. The game gives you control of small Hot Wheels car to race against other tiny cars on several tracks. In Single Player mode, you engage in a campaign to unlock items and tracks that become harder to pass and unlock as you advance. You unlock these by earning "flame points," which are awarded to you after achieving certain goals. In Multiplayer mode, you can challenge friends to race in any themed racing zone you have unlocked. Multiplayer action, played over a split-screen format, allows you to drift and destroy challengers while racing.

    "Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5"

    • Activision released "Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5" for the Nintendo Wii in November 2009. The game, based on the Cartoon Network program of the same name, allows you to play as any of the show's characters as you try to earn battle keys to defeat Sark and Vandals members. Each car has its own special weapon, which you can use against challengers while racing. One cool feature is that you can switch to any other car you have unlocked--even in the middle of a race. "Hot Wheels: Battle Force 5" also features multiplayer action (split-screen for two players), stunts and melee weapons.

    Wii Games Arena

    • As of April 2010, only two Hot Wheels games had been released for the Nintendo Wii, but Hot Wheels fans have another option. Mattel, using Flash technology, created Wii Games Arena, with 11 free games to play: "Maniacs Zany Ride," "Finish Line: Card Race," "Track Mod," "Micro Madnetics Turbo Tester," "Formula Fuelers Racers," "Rev-N-Smash," "Factory," "T-Wrecks Gut Buster," "Rev-Ups," "Rev-Ups Speed Shifters" and "Lava Land Jungle Jam." Each game was created to take advantage of the Nintendo Wii's built-in Opera browser; players visit HotWheels.com, and play the games using the Nintendo Wii's controller.
