How to Fix a Repeatedly Corrupted GameCube Memory Card

If the memory card on your Nintendo GameCube home video game console repeatedly becomes corrupted and begins losing your save data, the only thing you can do to fix it is format the card. This will erase all data on the card and reinstall its file system, which will allow it to retain data and work properly again. Formatting a GameCube memory card can be done through the main menu system on your console.

Instructions

  Insert your corrupted memory card to your Nintendo GameCube console. Turn on the console by pressing "Power."

  Select the "Memory Card Screen" menu option from your Nintendo GameCube's main menu.

  Select the "Yes" option when asked whether you would like to format your corrupted Nintendo GameCube memory card.

  Select the "Yes" option again to confirm you really would like to format your corrupted Nintendo GameCube memory card. Your Gamecube will format the memory card, and it no longer repeatedly will corrupt itself.
