Opening The Nintendo Wii
Put a soft cloth on a table. Remove all of the cables attached to the Nintendo Wii. Stand the Nintendo Wii on the soft cloth with the USB port doors facing up. Open the two USB port doors. Wiggle the two USB port doors until them come loose from the Wii. Remove the two USB port doors.
Remove the three screws from the left edge of the black insert that was exposed by taking off the two USB port doors with the Phillips screwdriver. Insert the tip of the Torx screwdriver into the seam between the black insert and the Wii. Wiggle the tip to loosen the black insert. Pull the black insert out of the Wii.
Remove the four screws from around the white plastic that is now revealed from having removed the black insert using the Phillips screwdriver.
Turn the Nintendo Wii over so that the white plastic is now on the bottom. Remove the screw next to the battery compartment using the Torx screwdriver. Remove the battery compartment with your fingers. Remove the screw from inside of the battery compartment with the Phillips screwdriver.
Remove the small plastic panel on the top by inserting the tip of the utility knife into the seam in a corner of the small plastic panel and pulling up. Remove the small plastic panel with your fingers.
Remove the rubber foot next to the battery compartment by putting the tip of the utility knife beneath them and pulling up.
Remove the five exposed screws using the Torx screwdriver.
Flip the Nintendo Wii down onto its side on the bath towel. Rotate the Nintendo Wii so the DVD front mounting slot is facing to the right.
Insert the tip of the utility knife in the seam between the DVD front mounting slot plate on the right side and the Nintendo Wii.
Wiggle the tip to loosen the DVD front mounting slot plate Remove the screws that are now exposed at the top and bottom sides of the DVD front mounting slot plate using the Torx screwdriver.
Remove the DVD front mounting slot plate with your fingers. Pull the small cable attached to the DVD front mounting slot plate from the small green circuit board in the corner of the Nintendo Wii with the tweezers.
Pull the top off of the Nintendo Wii with your hands to reveal the DVD drive.
Fixing the Wii DVD Drive
Rotate the Wii so that the green circuit board is on the left side with the warranty sticker farthest from you.
Locate the black spindle that is in the middle of the Wii to the right of the green circuit board. Insert the tip of the Phillips jeweler̵7;s screwdriver into the triangular piece of metal at the lower left corner of the black spindle.
Pry the triangular piece of metal upward using the tip of the Phillips jeweler̵7;s screwdriver.
Grab the end of the triangular piece of metal that has been lifted with the needle-nose pliers. Bend the triangular piece of metal over to the left side using the needle-nose pliers.
Reverse the disassembly process to put the Nintendo Wii back together again. Reattach the USB port doors to the Wii. Reattach the cables to the Wii.
