How to Use a Wireless Laptop With a Wii

The Nintendo Wii is capable of browsing the Internet and downloading games via the Nintendo Wii network. If you don't have a wireless router to connect to the Wii, you can use a laptop and share its Internet access. Once the Wii is connected to the laptop̵7;s network, you will have access to the Wii Network, and you will be able to use all of the Nintendo Wii's features.

Instructions

  Download and install the Connectify program from the resource section of this guide. This program will allow you to use your laptop as a wireless hot spot to connect to your Nintendo Wii.

  Click the Connectify icon in the notification area. The menu will appear. Enter a new name for your network in the ̶0;Wi-Fi Name̶1; text box, then enter in a password in the ̶0;Password̶1; text box.

  Click on the ̶0;Internet̶1; drop-down box and choose what Internet connection you would like to share. If your computer is using a wire to access the Internet, click ̶0;Local Area Connection.̶1; If you are sharing your wireless access, click ̶0;Wi-Fi Connection.̶1;

  Click the ̶0;Refresh̶1; button on the top right corner of the menu. The settings will take effect. Turn on your Nintendo Wii and go to the ̶0;Settings̶1; channel. Click on ̶0;Network̶1; access and connect to your laptop̵7;s network.
