The Wii is an interactive gaming system designed by Nintendo. It has many different features to engage the user, but connecting to the Internet offers even more possibilities. When you connect your Wii to the Internet, you can purchase exclusive content, read the news, check the weather and surf through your favorite websites. Playing Wii online is a great way to have fun with friends who aren't close enough to physically come over and play. You can connect the Wii to your home network through either a wireless or wired connection. Depending on the type of connection you choose, you may need to purchase an adapter.

  Use the Wii remote to click on "Wii Options," which is located on the Wii main menu, near the bottom left corner of the screen.

  Click on "Wii Settings," and then on "Connection Settings." Choose the "Connection 1" option, since you are setting up a new connection to your network.

  Choose your connection type--either wired or wireless. If you are connecting through a wired network, insert the network cable into the Wii LAN adapter. You can purchase the adapter at stores that sell Wii accessories. The Wii will connect to the network once the cable is inserted.

  Choose "Search for an Access Point" if you are connecting to a wireless network. The Wii will search for available wireless connections. Select the connection that you wish to connect to, and enter any security information that it asks for.

  Click on "OK," and the Wii will save your network settings. You can now use your Wii to connect to the Internet.
