How to Buy a Wii Bundle

Bundles can be a great way to save money on a Wii and its accessories, but only if you really want and can use everything included in the bundle. Anything extraneous adds to the cost of the bundle and reduces what you are saving. The best way to evaluate the bundle is to figure out how much the items included in the bundle would cost you separately and then compare it to the cost of the bundle.

Instructions

  1. Make a List of What You Want

    • 1

Decide how many accessories you'll need. Besides the console, how many remotes do you need? How many nunchuks? How many people (one to four) will be playing the Wii at a time?

    • 2

Figure out what games you want and what is necessary to play these games. Some games require only a remote. Others require the nunchuk accessory, a Wii Fit Board or MotionPlus to work correctly.

    • 3

Do you want to connect your Wii to the Internet? This allows you access to some classic Nintendo games online. If so, you may need extra hardware to connect it such as a LAN Adapter.

    • 4

Are there other accessories that you want? There are numerous accessories that snap onto the remote to give the game a more realistic feel, such as a steering wheel or fishing rod. You might also want to get rechargeable batteries or a recharging dock for the remotes.

    Calculate the Base Cost

    • 5

Once you know what you want, add up what the items would cost if you purchased them separately. Take the list you made in the first section and write down the average cost for each one. Start with the console, which has a MRSP of $249.99.

    • 6

Calculate the cost for the accessories (Wii consoles come with one remote and one nunchuk). Although they may be found cheaper, remotes have a MRSP of $39.99 with the Wii Nunchuk sold separately for $19.99. The Wii Fit Board has a MRSP of $89.99.

    • 7

Check different sites for the prices of any of the other items you plan on purchasing. Two sites that can give you a good price range include Google Product Search and Shopper.com. See Additional Resources below for links.

    Comparing Costs

    • 8

Check out the different bundle options available. Look for ones that include items on your list. Avoid bundles that include a lot of items that were not on your list.

    • 9

Write down any bundles that include most or all of the items you had on your list. Compare the items in the bundle to your original list. Write down any items that you want or need that are not in the bundle.

    • 10

Add the cost of the items not included in the bundle to the cost of the bundle. Compare this cost to the base cost you figured up in Section 2.

    • 11

Repeat this with each bundle you selected. Once you have decided which is the lowest, you are ready to make your purchase. Stores such as Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and Target carry different types of Wii bundles.
