Nintendo WiFi USB Connector Troubleshooting

If you have a computer in your home that can access the Internet, but don't have a wireless router or network, you will not be able to access the Internet on your Wii. However, Nintendo manufactured a USB device when the Wii launched that created a mini-network that only the Wii console can access. Using one of these USB devices which is no longer manufactured is actually very easy.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with high speed Internet connection
  • Wii console
  • Nintendo Wi-Fi USB connector

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the USB adapter to your computer's USB port. Do not connect the adapter to a hub. It needs to be directly plugged in to the computer.

    • 2

Wait for a notification window to pop up on your computer. Then press "OK" to start the installation process. The USB adapter should take several minutes to install. Once it has finished, you ill see a Nintendo Wi-Fi icon in the system tray.

    • 3

Turn on your Wii, and select the circular "Wii" button on the main menu. A new screen will appear. Click on the wrench icon to enter the "Settings" utility.

    • 4

Select "Internet" and then choose an empty wireless profile. Then select "Wireless Connection." An option for "Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connection" will appear. Select this option. Then press "Next."

    • 5

On your PC, highlight the orange connection in the text box and then right-click. Then select "Grant permission to connect."

    • 6

Go back to the Wii and then press "Next" and then "OK" to test the connection. If the connection is successful, the USB adapter has been installed correctly.
