BMX Games for Wii

The extreme sport known as bicycle motocross, or BMX, challenges racers to pedal their way through hills, dips and jumps in a battle against each other and the dirt track. Players of the Nintendo Wii gaming console experience virtual BMX racing with game titles and accessories created by major game studios and famous BMX riders.
  1. "Dave Mirra BMX Challenge"

    • "Dave Mirra BMX Challenge" was created and endorsed by Mirra, the racer with the most X Games wins and one of the biggest names in BMX racing. Mirra's game focuses on the challenge of navigating treacherous terrain while trying to get ahead of packs of like-minded cyclists. Features include realistic BMX bicycles and conditions based on actual tracks and real-world physics. Mirra doesn't just tackle the dirt, though. Some of the 17 tracks involve races on concrete and aerial leaps more extreme than those found on standard BMX raceways. Players also gain the ability to customize their racer with equipment and styles common to the real-life events.

    "Active Life: Extreme Challenge"

    • "Active Life: Extreme Challenge" from Namco Bandai showcases a more cartoonish take on BMX. Gamers can take to the dirt on more standardized raceways or engage in trick competitions in virtual parks and lots known as "BMX Flatland." Players create their own avatars, and all of the bikes feature exactly the same handling, speeds and specifications. The game uses the Wiimote's six-axis controls as handlebars and features controls based on wacky tricks and more flamboyant jumps.

    "Cyberbike"

    • Slated for release in early 2010, BigBen Games' "Cyberbike" comes packaged with a full-sized exercise bicycle accessory for the Nintendo Wii. Cyberbike promises to bring a far more realistic feel to BMX racing on the Wii by bringing players directly into the action and challenging more than their ability to hold a controller. Players will control the game's speed by pedaling the new accessory and will get a far greater workout than on previous Wii titles. The game's take on BMX is a far more fanciful event, with races taking place on hillsides, city streets and even the air with a pedal-powered ornithopter.
