The Bigs 2
"The Bigs 2" is the 2009 sequel to the popular baseball game released by 2K Sports for the Wii in 2007. This game combines the quick-playing fun of an arcade-style game with elements of realism from other competing Major League Baseball video games. The game is played as a regular baseball game, only points accumulate for each side resulting in the ability to throw a nearly un-hittable pitch or to smash a ball out of the park as long as you make contact.
Updates to the new game include a full MLB season mode complete with stat tracker, improved gameplay and more mini games. Home Run Pinball is a new addition to the game in which players can compete in a home run derby in Times Square or other recognizable areas. The Become a Legend mode allows newly created players to advance from the Mexican minor leagues to the big leagues in an attempt to become a member of the Hall of Fame.
Mario Super Sluggers
"Mario Super Sluggers" is a baseball addition to the long line of Mario games from Nintendo. In this comic baseball game, "Mario World" nemesis Bowser has returned and is planning to take over a tiny island called Baseball Kingdom. The entire island is all about baseball.
The object of the game is to beat Bowser's team of villains with Mario, Luigi and other familiar characters and drive them off the island. Within the game are several mini-games, challenges and a training mode.
The controls for pitching, batting and running are similar to that of other Wii baseball games. Simply mimicking the movement of a pitch or swing and pumping the arms to run will get the job done with a few tricks to make you more successful.
Backyard Baseball 2010
"Backyard Baseball 2010" is a sequel to the previous "Backyard Baseball" Wii games from Atari specially designed for the younger player. Kids compete side by side with actual major league players on a full MLB roster included in the game. The graphics are a bit behind the other baseball games released around the same time, but the gameplay is smooth and the controls are fairly realistic.
In addition to the addition of custom name announcements in the stadium, a unique added feature in "Backyard Baseball 2010" is the opportunity to be selected into the Hall of Fame. Players who perform well enough may qualify to submit their information to be inducted in the Backyard Hall of Fame and be immortalized in the next edition of the game.
