How to Get 3D Games Working on a Wii

The Nintendo Wii is the Japanese giant's newest home video game console. The system is innovative in that it uses motion-capture technology to allow players to incorporate body movements into gameplay, making for a much more engrossing experience. Nearly every Wii title is in 3D, but getting the system to work properly does take more work than most systems, due to additional requirements like the sensor bar and Wii Remote.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide whether you want to stand the console horizontally or vertically. If you choose to stand it vertically, use the included stand and slide in the Wii; you should hear a click sound when it's locked into place.

    • 2

Connect the AC adapter. Insert the DC input connector into the back of the Wii and insert the AC end into a wall outlet.

    • 3

Insert the sensor bar into the back of the Wii. Place the sensor bar either above or below your television. Make sure that the sensor bar is centered either directly above or below the television, and that it is close to the front of the television rather than resting near the back.

    • 4

Connect the AV cables to the Wii. Insert the end plug directly into the Wii and match the red, white and yellow plugs to the corresponding inputs on the back of your television.

    • 5

Set up a Wii Remote. Find two AA batteries, remove the back battery slot on the remote and align them to the corresponding "+" and "-" marks.

    • 6

Synchronize the Wii Remote with the system. Power on the Wii, open the SD card slot on the front of the console and remove the battery cover of the remote. Press the synchronize button inside the remote. You'll notice a blinking light on the Wii; once it stops blinking, synchronization is complete.

    • 7

Insert the 3D game you wish to play into the Wii console. Select its icon from the channels on the main menu. You can now begin playing your 3D game.

Note any error messages you receive during gameplay. Use the Nintendo website's "Error Code Lookup" function to get specific game fixes to get your 3D games working.
