Choosing Your Connection Type
Choose the type of Internet connection you wish to create for your Wii Console (wired or wireless). If unsure which connection to use, please continue to Step 2. Otherwise, skip ahead to the appropriate section.
Examine how your computer connects to the Internet. Does it use a modem and wired connection or a wireless router and wireless connection? If wired, skip ahead to Step 3. If wireless, skip ahead to the section titled "Setting Up a Wireless Connection."
Purchase a Wii LAN Adapater. The Nintendo Wii console requires a LAN Adapter in order to connect to the Internet via a wired connection. LAN Adapter can be purchased directly from Nintendo at the Nintendo's online Store (http://store.nintendo.com)
Here's a direct link to the Wii LAN Adapter: (http://store.nintendo.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?productId=117712¤cy=USD&catalogId=10001&tranId=0&lastAction=setCurr&storeId=10001&languageId=-1&categoryId=62707&ddkey=http:SetCurrencyPreference)
Continue on to the section titled "Connecting the Wii LAN Adapter" if you have an adapter but it's not yet connected to your Wii. Skip ahead to the section titled "Setting up a Wired Connection" if you already have a Wii LAN Adapter connected to your Wii Console.
Connecting the Wii LAN Adapter
Locate the Ethernet cable running FROM your broadband modem or wired router.
Four things to keep in mind:
Ensure the Wii Console is off.
Insert the LAN Adapter into the USB port located at the back of your Wii Console. (Refer to the schematics available in the Wii User Manual if you're unsure of which is the USB port.)
Insert the Ethernet cable into your wired router or broadband modem. (Refer to the individual device's user manual to locate appropriate port if you are unsure which to use.)
Connect the Ethernet cable to the Wii LAN Adapter.
Your LAN Adapter is now connected and ready for use. Please continue on to the section titled "Setting Up a Wired Connection"

1) If using a modem, you will need to unplug the Ethernet cable from your computer and plug it into the LAN Adapter.
2) If using a wired router, your router must have an available port to which an Ethernet cable can connect.
3) If your router does not have an available port, you must temporarily unplug one of the Ethernet cables and substitute it with the cable you are running TO your Wii LAN Adapter.
4) If you do not have an Ethernet cable, one must be purchased at a local retail outlet or online store such as Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com)
