How to Copy Wii Disc Games to an SD Card

The Nintendo Wii does not come with any form of internal storage aside from the SD card expansion slot. Technology, however, has made the SD card useful as they now go up to 32 gigabytes in size. That is enough to house about eight Wii games. Getting the games onto the SD card is possible through the use of a homebrew program called ̶0;DVD Dumper,̶1; but you will need to first make your Wii homebrew capable, which is legal but cannot be explained due to copyright issues. This means your Wii can run programs not created by Nintendo.

  Press the power button on your Nintendo Wii and allow it to boot up. Remove any game disk that you may have in the Wii optical drive. Insert your SD card into the Wii SD card slot at the top of the console.

  Select the ̶0;Homebrew̶1; channel from your Wii dashboard. Select ̶0;DVD Dumper̶1; on the next screen. Wii DVD Dumper allows you to backup disks to SD cards, external hard drives and to your computer via the wireless Internet connection.

  Press the ̶0;A̶1; button to verify the SD card selection as it is defaulted to this. Use the ̶0;Right̶1; directional button on the Wiimote until the second line of DVD Dumper reads ̶0;Wii Single-Layer Disc̶1; and press ̶0;A.̶1;

  Insert your Wii game into the DVD drive and DVD Dumper will automatically start to read the disk. Press the ̶0;A̶1; button to begin the copying process. DVD Dumper will notify you when the process completes.
