How to Play Wii on a Computer Monitor

The Nintendo Wii video game console attaches to a television with a cable that has a VGA output and RCA input. Small spaces such as dorm rooms or bedrooms may not have room for a computer and a television. The solution is to use your computer monitor as your Wii output device. This is a simple process that requires a VGA adapter, which you can purchase online or at most electronics stores.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your Wii and computer.

    • 2

Locate the VGA end of the cable. This is a four-sided output with one side angled. Place this end in the back of the Wii.

    • 3

Insert the RCA and S-Video output plugs into the corresponding inputs on the adapter. Plug red to red, yellow to yellow and white to white with the S-Video in the larger round plug.

    • 4

Connect the monitor output from the adapter into the computer monitor's input. Most adapters use a Mini-DVI connection--the standard monitor connection.

    • 5

Turn on your computer and fire up your Wii.
