How to Use the Nintendo Shop Channel
Just turn on your Wii system and select "Shop Channel" from the main menu. In order to download new games, you'll need to have an active Internet connection. Once the Wii has connected to the Internet, you'll be able to browse through a large catalog of classic games. Games are purchased using "Nintendo Wii Points," which can be bought with a credit card or points card from any video game retailer.
Finding Classic Games
Once you've added Wii points to your system, you'll be able to purchase classic games. Games can be arranged by system, title and price. NES games are priced at 500 Nintendo points, while Super Nintendo games are 800 points. If you already know the name of the game you wish to purchase, you can use the title sorting function to search for it. If not, you can sort through the system catalogs to refresh your memory. When you find a classic game you wish to purchase, such as Mario Bros. or The Legend of Zelda, simply select it and click "Buy" to add the game to your home menu.
How to Play Your Classic Games
Once you have added a classic game to your Wii home menu, just select the title you wish to play and select "Play." Depending on the system the game was originally designed for, you may play by holding the Wii remote vertically or you may need a classic controller or GameCube controller. Every game comes with hints and instructions built in, which can be accessed at any time by hitting the "Home" button on your Wii remote or classic controller.
