Step Games for Wii

Step aerobics are a form of exercise in which people step on and off a small, raised platform or step. Novices at step aerobics start with a step of a shorter height. As the person gains more experience with this form of exercise, taller steps can be purchased or risers can be added to make the workout more intense. The Wii console has only a few games that utilize step aerobics so far. The two main games involve the Wii Balance Board accessory, a short step that also acts as a highly sensitive scale, measuring pressure readings in four quadrants. Risers can be added to the bottom of the Balance Board.
  1. Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus

    • The "Wii Fit" and its successor game, the "Wii Fit Plus," include many different exercise games running the gamut from aerobics to strength training to yoga moves. In the aerobics section are the Basic Step, Advanced Step and Free Step games. Basic Step and Advanced Step walk you through short choreographed step programs. Free Step allows you to do a simple step routine for a longer period of time, a period that the player chooses. It even suggests that you change the channel and watch a program as you go through your step routine. The "Wii Fit" and "Wii Fit Plus" games come bundled with the Wii Balance Board.

    EA Sports Active: More Workouts

    • The sequel to "EA Sports Active," "EA Sports Active: More Workouts" features several new exercises for players. One of these additions is a step aerobics program, utilizing the Wii Balance Board accessory. "EA Sports Active: More Workouts" allows you to choose the intensity for your step aerobics program and lets you see how many calories you have burned.

Dance Dance Revolution: Hottest Party 3

    • Unlike "Wii Fit Plus" and "EA Sports Active," "Dance Dance Revolution" Hottest Party 3" is not a traditional step aerobics game. Still, the game is centered around step motions. Use either the game pad or the Wii Balance Board to play. You step on the game pad, but on the Balance Board, you sway your hips. Therefore, if you are looking for more step motions, you should play with the included game pad and not the Balance Board.
