How to Replace the Disc Drive in Wii

The Nintendo Wii may appear less sophisticated than other video game consoles, but the disc drive in its case is as state-of-the-art as any used in a computer. A defective disc drive mechanism can be replaced by the owner, saving the cost and time lost from sending it into a service center. The Wii-compatible disc drive mechanism must be purchased from a video game parts supply store. Opening the Wii to replace the disc drive mechanism requires patience and a steady hand but no electronics skill.
