How to Get the Internet on the Wii

The Nintendo Wii has many functions--game play, news updates, weather forecasts--and you can add Web browser to the mix. Owners of the console can download the Internet Channel for free, giving them the ability to surf the web from the comfort of the easy chair. The channel is easily accessible on the Wii menu after download, making browsing a snap.

Instructions

  Go to the Wii Shop Channel on the opening Wii Menu screen after turning on the console. Choose "Start Shopping" to begin the process.

  Choose "Wii Channels" on the next screen to open the available channels for download. In addition to the Internet Channel, you can also obtain channels for photos, game previews and more for free.

  Scroll down to the option for "Internet Channel" and click on it. Then choose "Download."

  Select a location for the channel. Your options are "Wii System Memory" and "SD Card." The channel must be saved to the system's memory to use. If you save to a memory card, you will have to transfer it to system memory later to operate the Internet Channel.

  Go to the Wii menu after the download is finished. The Internet Channel will be saved to one of the available slots on the menu. To transfer the channel to another slot, move the cursor over it and hold the "A" and "B" buttons simultaneously to grab it. Move it to another slot and let go of the two buttons.

  Use the Internet Channel by moving the cursor over it and pressing "A."
